HIGH HOLIDAY NEWS

Shirat HaNefesh is partnering this year with both
Kehila Chadasha and Bethesda-Chevy Chase Jewish Community Group
(scroll to the bottom of this page for their schedules)

Kehila Chadasha
We are partnering again this year with Kehila Chadasha for the High Holidays! Their new Rabbi, Ariel Tovlev, will lead live services—no Zoom option—at NC4. For the schedule and to register go to Kehila Chadasha - A progressive Jewish community.

Bethesda-Chevy Chase Jewish Community Group
We are also partnering with another congregation, Bethesda-Chevy Chase Jewish Community Group. They are offering Reconstructionist-style services on Zoom and at Winston Churchill High School. Rabbah Arlene knows the clergy and community and thinks well of them. For the schedule and to register go to Bethesda-Chevy Chase Jewish Community Group Home Page (bccjcg.org).

SHN is covering the base ticket cost for full members in good standing for your choice, either Kehila or BCCJCG
Click here to join Shirat HaNefesh.

If you’re attending the Kehila Chadasha services, go to their website to register online or for mail-in registration info. Kehila requires prepayment. Do not pay the adult rate, as they have agreed to cap the fee at the senior rate. Please send your receipt to
shntreas@gmail.com to request your reimbursement, which will be by dues credit.

You do not need to register with BCCJCG to attend their live services—just show up. You do need to register for Zoom attendance, though, to receive the link. Please note that you must register for each Zoom service individually. BCCJCG does not charge for tickets. Please email
shntreas@gmail.com to let us know you attended, and Shirat will send a donation on behalf of all our members who chose these services.

Rosh Hashanah Day Two
Zoom Discussion with Rabbah Arlene
Friday, October 4, 2024  3:00 p.m.

What was the intention of the Akeida - the binding of Isaac? Did God truly mean for Abraham to sacrifice his son? Did Abraham pass or fail the test - or is it all relative? Together we will examine this story by taking a close look at the Torah text, reading some medieval and modern commentators and then forming our own opinions.

Find the Zoom link in our weekly newsletter or or weekly announcement emails.
