Shabbat Morning Service with Hazzan Ramón

Saturday, March 12, 2022 9 Adar II 5782

10:00 AM - 12:00 PMZoom

Join Hazzan Ramón on Zoom for a Shabbat morning service and discussion of Shabbat vaYikrah/Zakhor.

On shabbat Zakhor, the Shabbat before Purim, the festival of lots and masks, our Torah portion begins with “Zakhor" and concludes with “lo tishkah.”
Remember, never forget.

Jewish identity cannot exist without collective memory. Our collective memory is transmitted and sustained through the conscious efforts flowing through ritual and a call for action. As the US has lost at least 1 million human beings and the world at least 6 million, it appears that, God willing, COVID-19 is lowering its impact in our lives.

After two years of enormous devastation, it seems that we might be returning to a “normal life.” Two years, very long years, of conditions that resemble house arrest. As we light a candle in our window for our worldwide moment of remembrance, I ask you: What do you remember?  What do you want to be remembered for?

Yehi zikhram barukh.
May the souls of the neshamot that perished around the world be for a blessing.
