Our Torah portion today tells us: “You shall not abuse a needy and destitute laborer” and “You must pay out the wages due on the same day, before the sun sets.”  This was, of course, written before labor unions existed and before capitalism arose.  How do we honor this passage?  How do we support the demands of laborers for decent working conditions and livable wages?

Our speaker, Scott Schneider, has spent 40 years working to protect laborers from exposure to hazardous conditions on the job. George Franklin and Lisa Schwartz will lead the service.
