April 29: Parashat Achrei Mot-Kedoshim

We open Achrei Mot describing the ritual of Yom Kippur, then detail the prohibitions of offering sacrifices outside of the Mishkan  and of eating animal blood, and ends with a list of forbidden relations. It is never too early to start thinking about the High Holy Days! In Kedoshim (holy) G-d describes to Moses the many ways that we can live holy lives, such as keeping Shabbat, respecting our parents and not stealing. We will sing together, enjoy some thoughtful meditation and have some time to schmooze and catch up on our weeks.

Kevin is a cantorial student at the ALEPH Alliance for Jewish Renewal. He lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba with his wife but travels between Los Angeles and Canada as a photographer. He is a soloist with the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony and has also appeared on stage in musicals. He recently completed a fellowship with Hadar and Deborah Sacks Mintz and has studied nusach at the Conservative Yeshiva in Jerusalem. He also sits on the board of ALEPH Canada.
