In November we will begin PART II of its series of classes on Nevi'im (The Prophets).
What is this series about? Well, we read the Torah (the Five Books of Moses) year after year, and we are exposed to SOME portions of Nevi'im (The Prophets) through the Haftarot. But there are many sections of Nevi'im that we never read. What else is written in Nevi'im? Join us and find out!!
What: In Part I, we read, studied and discussed the first six books of Nevi'im (The Historic Prophets), including Joshua, Judges, I & II Samuel and I & II Kings. In Part II, we will read, study and discuss ISAIAH and JEREMIAH. We expect to explore the Other Books (Ezekiel and the "Minor Prophets") later this year.
When: We will generally meet EVERY OTHER WEEK (on a Tuesday or Thursday). Each class will be over ZOOM, for ONE HOUR, from NOON - 1 p.m. Classes will begin in November. See dates below. The Zoom link will be sent upon registration.
The Details: Each session will feature a "Class Gabbai" who will provide a brief introduction and then be available during our class discussion. We plan to meet as follows:
- Tuesday, Nov 14, Nov 21 & Dec 5, noon - 1 pm - Isaiah (Class Gabbai - Gideon Amir)
- Tuesday, Dec 19, Jan 2 & Jan 24, noon - 1 pm - Isaiah (Class Gabbai - Rabbi David Balto)
- Thursday, Feb 1 & Feb 15, noon - 1 pm - Jeremiah (Class Gabbai - Rabbi Gerry Serotta)
- Thursday, Feb 29 & Mar 14, noon - 1 pm - Jeremiah (Class Gabbai - Nan Wellins)
- Thursday, Mar 28, noon - 1 pm - Jeremiah (Class Gabbai - Heidi Coleman)
Reading: We encourage participants to read the text before each class. An English translation is available in any Tanakh or at https://www.sefaria.org/
Is There a Fee for these Classes? There is no fee for members of Shirat HaNefesh. Non-members are welcome to participate. We invite non-members to make a donation to our community. (Suggested donation: $54 for Part II of this series.)
